Routines and Procedures

Empty Classroom

Coming in to the classroom: When students enter the classroom they will greet the teacher and grab their breakfast. After eating, they will turn in homework if they had any. Lastly, they will grab a book, play with manipulatives or playdoh, or visit quietly with a neighbor until it is time for the pledges and morning announcements.

A Girl in a Classroom

Turning in work: Students will turn in all homework and assignments in their cubbies. Tuesday folders will be turned into the green folders Students will be required to finish any unfinished work before they participate in any activites. 

In the Classroom

Restroom Break: We will have several scheduled class restroom breaks throughout the day. Students will also be allowed to go to the restroom two at a time during class. This meaning one boy and one girl. Before students transition students will need to go to the restroom if needed. If students need to go to the restroom during class they will be required to raise their hand and ask. They must also take a restroom pass.

Cleaning-up: Students will be required to clean up after themselves. They should clean up their desks, and pick up their trash. The trash monitor will be allowed to remind students to tidy up their area. All supplies, materials, and books need to be placed back where they were originally when students are done using them. Students will also receive five minutes to clean-up before we move on to the next thing. When the clean-up song ends students should be finished cleaning up.

Kids at Playground

Recess: Students will line up to go outside for recess. They will walk until we reach the playground. Once students are outside they will play safely with the other students. The students will need to line up to come back inside when they hear the teacher blow the whistle to call for the class.

Classroom Library: Books should be placed with spines outward in order to see the book title. They should also be placed in the area that coincides with that books reading level. Students will be able to see the level of the book and will be tasked with helping keep the books in order. When a student is finished reading a book it should be placed in the library following this standard procedure.

Off to School

Lining Up/ Hallway:  The students will sit in their seats and wait. When the teacher feels like the students are ready and supplies are put away she will call on the quietest table group first. The students will push in their chairs, and walk quietly to the line trying their best be in number order. They will face the front and stand ready to go. In the hallway students will be expected to use their walking feet, keep their hands to themselves, walk quietly, and listen to the teacher.

Kids in Art Class

Transitions: Students will transition based off of the music that is presented by the teacher. While the music is playing students will stop what they were previously doing and walk to the designated place or area instructed by the teacher. By the time the music stops, students should be where they are asked to be and ready to begin.

Raising Hands

Questions: If a student has a question, he or she will ask a friend if that friend can help or raise his or her hand and wait for the teacher to provide assistance. Students will also be allowed to write their name on the board and the teacher will attend to the students in the order at which the names were written.

Student Writing

Heading Papers: Students will be required to have their name, class number, and date on every paper. They will need to have these headings written in pencil and be written in their best handwriting.

Pencils

Pencils:  If students pencil breaks, they will put their broken one in the broken pencil bin and grab another one from the sharpened bin. Students will keep their own personal pencils to themselves and will be allowed to sharpen their own personal ones. Other pencils that are provided by the class will remain in the bins until they are needed.
